Description:
hEXPO is a festival/ workshop, which is a continuing process,
instead of focusing on some specific area, it spreads over all the spectrum
of activities, which are necessary for successful (re)production of public/
civic/ cultural life. The aim of the festival is to provide the training
for the so-called "self-producer" and the necessary exchange of knowledge
among the participating individuals, that would result in those individuals
being able to organize and realize in practice a civil/ cultural life,
even in the hostile or uninterested local environments. Along these lines
at MZX we defined a social and technological platform, which combines the
knowledges of a journalist, organiser, producer, performer, historian,
archiver, political activist, artist, system administrator, radio engineer,
manager,... All these profiles also describe the vast area of interest
of the hEXPO festival.
Working
groups are structured like this:
- one third are mixed international/ local "tutors/
generators"
- two thirds are (again mixed international/ local)
"students". Half the students are from the local areas, the other
half are 'mobile' - they spend one week in each of the three places of
festival/ workshop.
The
complete human structure:
- 18 international guests/ tutors
- 18 local tutors (local meaning also Croatian, Serb,
Bosnian... Austrian?, Italian?)
- 36 mobile students (18 international and 18 local)
- 36 students from local places
Three
groups are formed:
Each week a different group appears with their program
and events in a different place. Places are not restricted to one town
but extended to the nearby cultural centers (Klagenfurt, Trieste, Graz).
So: in the three weeks in the period between 15th August to 15th September
there are three sets of complete events in Maribor, Ljubljana and Koper.
This events are loosely synchronised and broadcast to other two locations
by means of internet multimedia possibilities. Some people will be
able to attend all three weeks, others will be present only a couple of
days. The fourth week will be an all-together meeting, presumably somewhere
in Istria.
The concept comes from Marko Kosnik and involves 3 weeks
of interlinked activities in the following clubs/ places of activities
in Slovenia:
- Maribor: MKC, Kibla, Pekarna, Radio MARS
- Ljubljana: Kapelica, Metelkova, Kinoteka, Ljudmila,
Radio Student, MZX
- Koper: MKC, Pina
And hopefully also in this neighbouring places:
- Graz (ESC)
- Klagenfurt (Radio Agora)
- Trieste (Radio Fragola, Posto delle Fragole)
The organisational structure will be as much horizontal
as practical. All these places have their regular activities and infrastructure
which will be also part of the festival. This is then their 'input' in
both means and program.
Co-producers
are:
Every organisation with its location and infrastructure
is an equal member/ co-producer of the festival and supports the
festival with its infrastructure, personnel and logistics. Each co-producer
is free to propose/ present a program that he would like to organise and
share with other places/co-producers. These are the above mentioned clubs,
cultural centers.
Apart from these 'location' co-producers there are also
organisational, media and communicational producers, which take care of
the all the resulting electronic media interlinking and synchronisations
between the places of events..
- Ljudmila, Radio Student, Ministry of experiment , all
in Ljubljana
- Kibla, radio MARS and MKC, all in Maribor
- Pina in Koper
Co-producers in this category provide also the
additional events: lectures, workshops and other special events using their
communication infrastructure.
