Asylum in the EU

The topic of today’s show will focus on refugees and asylum seekers in Europe. With the recent crisis in the Mediterranean Sea and its aftermath, finding repercussions in major media channels and European institutions, it once again raised a wide range of disputes among the people.  With some arguing for the increased militarization and foreclosure at the external EU borders (something that also reflects current EU policy itself) and some blaming the EU for hypocrisy and a lack of responsibility, the discourse is still mainly concerned with European-wide policies and a response to the ongoing crisis. In this show we will try to talk on specific cases of the UK, Czech Republic and Bulgaria and the policies surrounding asylum seekers and try to contest whether a European wide one-model-fits-all solution would be functional.
